LibreTube is an alternative frontend for YouTube, for Android.

YouTube has an extremely invasive privacy policy which relies on using user data in unethical ways. LibreTube aims at improving the users' privacy by being independent from Google and bypassing their data collection as much as possible. We don't use any Google services, nor save user data and use any trackers.

Google accounts are not supported and never will be, however importing subscriptions from YouTube is possible. Apart from that the Piped proxies can bypass geo restrictions, therefore LibreTube can be used in countries where YouTube is blocked.

Downloaded files are stored in external private storage (`Android/data/com.github.libretube`). In the downloaded files, audio and video are separated. Hence it is recommended to exclusively use LibreTube for playing downloaded media.
