Rime（中州韻） is the Rime Input Method Engine.

Download Rime input method for Windows, macOS and Linux. The official site lists support for **Windows 8.1+, macOS 13.0+, Linux (IBus, Fcitx)**.

After installation, switch to the Rime input method and start typing Chinese. Press **Ctrl+`** or **F4** to open the input schema menu, where you can switch among enabled input schemata such as **朙月拼音**, **注音**, **倉頡** and others, and adjust common Rime options.

## Design input schemata

Rime input schemata value originality. It is not limited to Pinyin, Zhuyin, Cangjie, Quick, Wubi, Double Pinyin, Kungpao Pinyin, Jyutping, Wu Chinese, Middle Chinese romanization, five-stroke, Emoji, IPA and other recipe collections. Read the schema design guide and create your own, turning the input method into the form you want.

Learn about Rime’s technical solutions to known input-method problems; clone the source code and improve what it cannot yet do. The project aims to build an open-source input method framework with more complete features and easier extension.

Rime is not a typical web service. Self-hosting mainly means local installation, configuration, or cloning/building the source code; the official material does not provide server resource requirements.
