Introduction
Chatwoot is one of the most active open-source customer support systems in the community, positioned as an alternative to Intercom. Multi-channel conversations are brought together into a unified workspace, with support for team collaboration, automation rules, knowledge base, and reporting. Since v4, Chatwoot includes Captain AI, which can automatically answer common questions based on the knowledge base.
Self-hosted deployment has a moderate entry barrier: the official project provides Docker Compose and Helm Chart, and production environments are recommended to start with 4GB of memory. There is no official channel for the WeChat ecosystem; teams that need WeChat Official Account integration are advised to evaluate domestic SaaS options or develop their own adapter.
